Hi, I have been using stock psi for track days giving say 80 degree day, or I am interested in what some of you guys run at the track.
I often hear talk about psi ??? I was interested in our specific bike.
if anybody had any success running them a little bit lower.
I was inclined to drop it a couple pounds front and rear.
I am using the BT 003 with good success.
thank you Mike H

I guess I'm the only person in the world using Kpa to measure tire pressure? lol
my Ducati pressures measured using bar per owners manual, can be converted to PSI, but no need ...my digi gauge has bar scale.

6 or half dozen, same crap.

My buddy from Glasgow can't get enough of the stuff. He calls it the bee's knees so I wanna get a hold of some! How much would it be to have a botle shipped to the states?

Tire pressures are really about tire heat. What you do is: check your pressure cold and record. after a few laps or when the tire is fully hot quickly after a session re check pressure. Look for a 10% rise.
If you get less you starting pressure was too high. if you get more than 10% you starting pressure was too low.
Check you pressure and record it before and after each track session.

Note your pressures are quite peculiar to you . going by the other guy's idea could be way wrong.

Tip if you have a tire truck at the track these guys know and will often post a board with a starting pressure for a variety of bikes.

I will tel you that I have used pressures fro a low of 19-22 to a high of 32-40.

in the rain you start very low.

Finally tire rubber generates the best traction from 140 Deg (street tire) to 175 deg (Race tire).

One size does not fit all.

I hate agreeing with Fog. I've had to do it twice today. But his main point is correct -- you need to find what works best for you.

That being said, I can almost guarantee that the pressures you are currently running are too high. Anything the owner's manual says is too high. Whatever "stock psi" is, it's too high.

Not knowing which track it is and what the weather there is like, what tires you're using, what suspension set up, how you ride or how much you weigh...basically without knowing anything useful...I'd say to start around 30psi front/rear HOT, and see how that feels.

it's really impossible to answer this without knowing what tires he's running as well.

When I ran BT45's at the track, I would set them at 30/30 (cold) and just leave them all day. Maybe check again at lunch.

Pilot Powers and Q2's were run at more like 29 front, 28 rear

Michelin Power Ones were set MUCH lower. Like 22psi rear. I know some of the Dunlop race tires like even less pressure in the rear. But those are all made to be used with warmers, so they come up to ~27 or so hot.

for most street tires, 30/30 is a good starting point at a track day. Then you make small adjustments one way or the other depending on how the tires are feeling. I rarely mess with pressures anymore. I just do 29-30 cold, and then check again at lunch (as the day gets hotter).
