I wish everyone would complete the profile info. What's the big deal with all this secrets? Are you afraid of child molesters? What? I am having trouble sorting out the Usernames , email from hidden sources and all this mysterious crap. Common tell us who your are and where you live, (not your street address but at least your city.

Bill Martovich with a silly name like FOG From Mountain Home Arkansas.

Hey look everyone!  My name is So-and-So!  I live in Nowhere, NV and ride a very desirable sport bike!  I'm 18 Y/O, single, and always ride my bike to school, which happens to be the U of N Nowhere!  I'm sudiying in the hospitality industery!  You'll find me and my bike parked in the business center!

Please come steal my bike!  While you're at it, break into my apartment and steel my credit cards and identification!  Because i'm supid enough to post all my personal information on the internet for scum-bag bike theft rings to watch, record, Scam, and steal my propery and endanger my loved ones!

Nice to meet you all!

Get my drift?  I've been a victim of Identity Theft once before.  I refuse to be one again.

Meh.. Identity theft is one thing.. they'll not get that from your first name, city & state. Just don't give out the info that can be used against you. First middle & last name, SSN, complete address etc.

I've been/am a member of quite a few forums and never had any problems. They all get the same info:
Name (first)
Age
City, State, Country
and the same email/username for all. If you see "Lacessit" out there it's probably me.

I always fill out my profile info, because it can help meet people in your area that are interested in the same things. Just realize that the info is accessible to all, and watch what you release.

Lucky for us, we all ride EXs, the second to last bike stolen by thieves (the last being my KZ ;) ).

I think we should definitely complete our profile information, because if nothing else it's nice to be able to see who's riding what and where they're riding it when they ask what to do to fix their bike. It's a good idea to be careful what you put out there, too. The way I see it, it's not that important that people I know locally know my last name, let alone all you boneheads :p.

Let me explain,
Recently I had some business dealing with a member here, We started out well enough but when it came to shipping and payment, I had all kinds of confusion. Several PM messages from this board came unsigned, my responces dissapeared into limbo , the payment came from another name, the party himself used several names, and even their private email address were encoded and only the user number of the server. When I tried to find out who (whom) I was dealing with from the Forum's personnel files I find them blank.

I thought it would be helpfull to all if at least the email address and a first name were consistant, Maybe I just don't get it.

FOG...... er Bill

I have no problem with these Kennel names we use here. FOG is easier to type.

Well, that's kind of a hard thing to coordiante, Bill. Sometimes, you don't get a choice in your email address. Most times you do as long as someone who has a similar name (Bill Martovich and william "Bill" Martovich for instance) hasn't already thought of it already. then you're kinda screwed and have to use a different format.

The best way to reduce confusion is to build a repore with the other person. Ask for his name. give him a ring. be on the same sheet of music so that when time comes it's not a shocker to you. most often times, people wont just send you money out of the blue so when you ask for payment from Topgun_R/C and you get one from Tom Terpan, i'd understand that this Tom Terpan and Topgun_R/C whose email is [email protected] are all in fact one and the same person.

If you're doing this for business, then as a suggestion to keep all your ducks in a row, find yourself a good contact management program and keep it up to date.

My name is Mike, and I live in Charleston, WV.

I'm 50 this year (Go oldies!)

I own a 2003 500R that is stock right now, but with more saddle practice and the help of the folks on this site, I'm pledging that both rider and bike will be improved this year.

I may be a little old for a noob in this sport, but last year I learned to fly (on the bike), and after that experience I'm not about to let you young guys have all the fun. ;D

I was concerned about the entire birthdate thing, esp if the full name is given.
That's enough info to get ID on folks. Heck, if people Google "Bart science Omaha" they get my full name address & are just a step away from work place address & email.

I would lobby that we modify the PROFILE date of birth to just the birth year.
It requires that you put in year month & date of birth... TMI!
Although... I just took a look see w/o signing in, and only the age is available, near as I can tell.
So as long as we can trust our administrators & the site security.... ???? 8)

2nd least desirable bike or not, I spent a lot of money on my bike and would kill myself
if it was stolen. Also I don't think it would be someone from the forum, alot of people
see what we write here.
That's what insurance is for. And kidding or not, there's not a bike in the world worth dying over. Bikes get stolen, but it's probably 11-ty kerbillion times more likely that it'd be some crackhead from around the corner trying to steal your stuff than someone parusing an internet forum for EX500s. But what do I know, halfwits steal Civics every day.

If my bike was stolen I'd be pissed to the point that if I found out who did it I'd go give them a whipping they'd never seen before (wouldn't we all?), but there are so many more of them out there I'd never feel THAT bad.
