Is this a good helmet?

HJC makes decent lids. From there it's mostly personal opinion/past experience. My lid is an HJC FS-10 and it is somewhat noisy.

That price for a DOT and SNELL approved helmet is cheap. My cheapo VOX helmet was 70 bucks and definitely not SNELL approved. That model didn't seem to do well, as I've seen it several places getting cheaper all the time.

Before buying, try newenough.com and see if they have it. Their return policy is awesome in case you don't like it for some reason. Other than that, if you like it get it.

Mine is the CL-15 Silver Metallic. I think it's good, however I fortunately haven't had to find out just HOW good it is LOL! It is DOT/Snell approved. I really went back and forth with one of the patterns, but ended up getting the solid silver one, as my bike is Passion Red w/silver striping. I REALLY wanted to get the one that has the flip-up sunglasses inside the helmet, but that one is a lot outta my price range. Instead, I bought the dark shade to change out during the day so I don't have to worry about wearing sunglasses under the helmet. However, someone recently suggested that I just wear the clear shield all the time and wear sunglasses anyway, so when I get hot and want to raise the shield, I don't have to worry about needing to find sunglasses or worry about giving my eyes a minute to adjust to the sun.

I'm looking to get rid of mine in case anyone wants the light blue CL-15 (from newenough.com)...it doesn't match my bike (I bought it before I bought my bike). It's a size Medium. Let me know, we can make a deal! I'll even wash the pads before I ship it...never dropped, only ever put down lightly on surfaces - no scratches or dings, and never, ever left outside in the heat. Had it since March '08.

This is what I want to get (CS-R1 INFERNO) - it's only slightly less heavy. And it will match the flame jacket I intend to buy. 8)

I just ordered a GMax GM68 Graphic Full Face Helmet - Crusader White/Blue - Extra Large (copied and pasted the name) from Kneedraggers.com for $120 total (had to pay for shipping).
Most other websites didn't even have it in stock.

I had an HJC CL-14. Compared to my Shoei RF-1000, it was slightly heavier. I can't really comment on the aerodynamics because I almost never got much above 70 when I had the CL-14. It held up okay in a low to medium speed (~30 mph, I think) low-side, but got hit just right to break the visor mechanism on one side. They're not bad hats, especially for the price, but there are better ones out there.

dad rides with what I think is a CL-15.

Another GM68S here. I've had an HJC flip-up helmet, and it saved my life once. Still, for the money I'd rather pick a cheaper helmet of $120, even though it is made out of plastic and only DOT approved. A nice Snell approved helmet is good for the trackdays, but on the street I doubt I'll ever need such a high standard.
All in all I'm really pleased with the GM68S. It's not the best helmet money can buy, but it's decent. It offers the protection you need and I prefer it over my KBC TK-77 which actually is Snell approved. It just fits better to my head and has LEDs for nighttime.

Another thing, with the GM68S comes a pre-installed chin gauze which is great for winter. But having medium long hair I was pleased to find out you can actually take it out of the helmet. This way I can put the helmet on in a way which allows me to keep my hair pushed back so it's not in my eyes while riding, but in winter I can put on a bandana and reinstall the chin gauze to stay warm.

I have a CL-15, and I haven't worn it once since I bought my RF-1000. I keep it as a back-up, but honestly I'll probably never wear it again. It's noisy, the pads weren't very encompassing, and it wasn't aerodynamic at all. It was an XS and felt loose because the pads didn't surround my head very well. My Shoei is a small and feels much more secure. On the freeway the HJC also rose off my head, and I'd look down to have the wind push it down, or push it back down on my head every 5 minutes or so.

Crashed in one, too. Slid on the dirt for about 10 feet. The base plate broke and the shield partially came off. I also experienced some burst blood vessels in my forehead. That's probably from going 70 to 15mph in a quarter second though...

Good price (I paid $115), but I wouldn't recommend the helmet.

I too have some issues with my CL-15, like it not having a snug fit (when I look back it moves and in high speeds it moves), but I thought it was because I had an oval/narrow head. It also has some whistling. I like the helmet, but I think I should probably try on different models before I go ordering online again (got mine for $90 w/shipping). I did try one on at a local shop first and thought it fit just fine, maybe stores should let us take it for a test ride. ;D

that is a sick helmet! I love it!
Yeah, me too.
One of my friends said it was sexy, another said it was badass. Both are good.

DAMMIT I should have had some more patience and ordered it online.

I bought the same lid but the dragon graphics from the local dealer and paid retail price. 152 total.

I wanted to start riding ans felt paranoid doing so without a helmet at least.
