Need community input on battery issue

I bought a new battery from Ebay. When I went to install it, the bolts from the original battery were too small. Without any more thought put into it, I went to Home Depot and bought two different size bolts both a little bigger. When I went to try again, I noticed that the terminals had no "receiving" threads for the bolts. Ok, back to the store to buy the nuts. I marked by pen the approximate width of the inside area of the terminals (I only did this as I'm in the process of moving and cant find a tape measure). Back home with a few different size bolts, FML, they are all too big. They dont fit in the inside area of the terminal. Now I know the simple answer is to go smaller. But this hardware is supposed to secure the wires to the terminal, is there a "too small" bolt? Will this affect the intergity of the charge being delivered?

I did contact the seller and asked what size I needed, he said "the parts should be there" Well, first off thats not what I asked, and second, no they are not there.

Does anyone have this king of terminal? What did you use? Thanks for any input!

An industry standard procedure..the proper "captive nuts" and hardware should have been supplied with the battery by the supplier.

Perhaps thrown away in the packaging?

I ran into the same problem not too long ago. I took my battery out for trickle charging over the winter, and somehow lost the square nuts in the process. I ended up going to a local hardware place, and finding a small enough nut/bolt set to fit the terminals. As long as it's securing the circular ring connectors to the terminals nice and tight, you're good.

The hardware from the old battery was completely different. I was able to get a small bolt into the housing. The seller us going to ship the hardware , but I'm moving and need to get the bike to the new house. I checked the box and there was nothing in it.

Will regular nuts work until the new ones arrive?
