Used to be my '02 500R would start 1st time, every time -- unless it was below 32*F. It wasn't used for over 1/2 year and now it doesn't want to start below 60*. It'll almost turn over and when it finally does, I've been trying to start it for 3-4 minutes. Often times I'll get 1 loud back-fire, with a couple of smaller back-fires.

I've put the battery in a different bike and that one starts right up, so it doesn't seem to be battery-related.

What do I need to do to get her started in this colder weather? (I don't want to end the riding season early!!!)

Thanks,

Do a 4oz gas tank treatment of Seafoam (fill tank to halfway at your next fillup, pour in 4oz Seafoam or 1/3 of the bottle, then finish topping off tank with gasoline).

If that doesn't help within 100 miles of riding, then clean carbs. THOROUGHLY
