LOL! He has the bug! I can see it in his expression, and that bug can only be cured by two wheels (and training wheels, to start).

Funny enough, I can't touch the ground either on most SS's ;D

 

He's one of us...loves two wheels. His favorite vid is the isle of man TT on youtube.

He's been on a pw50 at the dealer *buying a used one* and it fits him well, seems like a easy, simple bike to learn on.

I know he's only 4, but he may outgrow (size-wise) the PW quick. You can get a set of training wheels on a CRF50, too. It's a 4 stroke and you can adjust the throttle down to a crawl.

 

I was recently talking about this topic with a friend who has a son who's a few years old. He preferred a dirtbike over a quad because it inherently limits what the kid can do. On a bike, he'll tip over if he gets too crazy, whereas on a quad he can run the thing wide open (well beyond his abilities) without any fear of tipping over. My cousin bought his son a little dirtbike (I think it's a KTM 50 SX) a few years ago (he's 10 now), and he just loves that thing. He rides it around the yard while Dad rides the Raptor.

 

I know you want to spoil your kid and peak his interest in bikes although it sounds like he's already interested. Four is kinda young though for something with a gas engine and I'm not sure kids that young have a fully developed self preservation/common sense instinct. Personally I would get him riding a bicycle first, then maybe when he's 8 move to a 50cc bike.

 

Forget the bike, get him a glove and a ball and play with him. when he's seventeen or so he'll get his own bike if he still want to.
I know I raised 4 kids ,none of them followed dad. Until they were thirty.

as above I'd say he's way to young for a bike. You could get a 50cc with training wheels and dial it way back. You can also order remote shut offs for them. Even then he still seems a bit young, he should start on a bicycle imho

 

My 7 yr old has a Yamaha ttr50 with training wheels to start. His 5 yr old sister rides it slowly also. It has a throttle limit screw to keep them out of trouble. Very simple and rock solid 4 stroke reliable. E start and no kick however is a downer in my opinion. Great little starter....highly recommended.

 

I had a power wheels kawasaki 4 wheeler when I was little. I rode it into the ground. Then my dad got me a suzuki 50cc 2 stroke quad. I rode that into the ground too. Then my dad rebuilt the engine and I rode it more until I outgrew it. After that he got me Yamaha Raptor 80, clutchless 3 speed. He got himself a Blaster 200cc 2 stroke, 6 speed w/ clutch. I eventually got that. Then I sold it. Then a couple years later I bought my Ninja 500.
